At noon today, on February 11th 2017, the feast day of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Our Lady of Lourdes, the press office of the Holy See released a statement that the Holy Father, Pope Francis, has nominated a Special Envoy of the Holy See to Medjugorje, his Excellency Msgr. Henryk Hoser, S.A.C, a Polish archbishop and the current Bishop of Warsaw-Prague (Poland).

On February 11, 2017, the Holy Father entrusted Archbishop Henryk Hoser, S.A.C., bishop of Warsaw-Prague (Poland), to go to Medjugorje as Special Envoy of the Holy See.
The mission has the aim of acquiring a deeper knowledge of the pastoral situation there and above all, of the needs of the faithful who go there in pilgrimage, and on the basis of this, to suggest possible pastoral initiatives for the future.

On the day when we remember Bl. Cardinal Alojzije Stepinac, February 10, Medjugorje parish also celebrates Holy Mass for martyred Franciscans who were born in this parish or served in in during the time of World War II. During and immediately after the World War II, communists killed 66 Franciscans in Herzegovina.

Theler family, Ezekiel, Rebecca and their mom Barbara, came from Switzerland. They’ve been coming to Medjugorje for the last few years, but the real reason of their pilgrimage this time is recording of their first CD of spiritual music that they have been doing in facilities of radio Mir Medjugorje.

Presentation of the book “I was not silent – open thoughts on Church, politics and social events”, of the author Fr. Mario Knezovic, took place in Medjugorje on January 18. This book is the collection of his texts that were published for the last couple of years in monthly Catholic paper “Nasa ognjista”. Fr. The 28th International Youth Prayer Meeting in Medjugorje – Youth Festival, is going to be held from August 1 to August 6, 2017. The programme will be made of catechesis, testimonies, Eucharistic celebrations, prayers and Adorations of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.

After 42 years Kiseljak (small town in central Bosnia) has newly ordained Franciscan priest. The main celebrant will be Fr. Julijan Madžar, a member of the Franciscan Province of Bosnia Argentum, currently serving in Ovcarevo. He was born in 1991, ordained as Deacon on June 19, 2016, by Auxiliary Bishop of Banja Luka, Mons. Marko Semren.

Family Kopričanec from Koprivnica, spouses Katarina and Nevenko and their son Šimun-Benedikt, came to Medjugorje in January 2017. Those are spouses who have prayed for many years to have a child and got him as the fruit of prayer. He is 12 today. Mrs. Katarina said in the programme of radio Mir: „My holiday is usually in January.

After Christmas and New Year busy period, Medjugorje now enters peaceful and quieter prayer time for parishioners, Franciscans, Franciscan school sisters and all those who work here. There are few pilgrims left, all seeking for personal encounter with Jesus and Mary in quiet prayer on Hills, in the church and Adoration Chapel. (photos)

In the last year, there were 1 656 800 of Holy Communions distributed and 34 658 priests concelebrated at the Holy Masses.
There were 65 children baptised in our parish and 46 people died. 45 couples were married, 65 children received the Holy Communion for the first time and 80 children received the sacrament of Holy Confirmation.
