Novena to the Queen of Peace is taking place each day, something we take as the spiritual preparation for the 37th Anniversary of Our Lady’s apparitions, in thanksgiving to the Heavenly Father for Mary’s presence.

The 7th International Pilgrimage for Persons with Disabilities, finished with the Holy Mass at 11 am, celebrated by Fr. Zvonko Benkovic. The pilgrimage was held since Thursday with the theme - Living on the Word of God “Then he opened their minds to understand the scriptures” (Lk 24:45).

Nearly all the time, there are groups of pilgrims and individuals climbing Apparition Hill in this Novena to the Queen of Peace. Every day, from June 15 to 23, there is Rosary at 4 pm on Apparition Hill. Holy Masses are celebrated in the various languages, and the evening prayer programme starts with Rosary at 6 pm. Many will come to Medjugorje walking in these days for the 37th Anniversary and some fulfilled their vows in this Novena.(photos)

On Sunday, June 24, on the feast of St. John the Baptist, we celebrate the Eve of Our Lady’s Apparitions in Medjugorje. Traditionally, each year, we will meet outside the monastery of St. Anthony in Humac and begin the walk there. Pilgrims are to arrive outside the St. James’ church at 10 am.

Fraternity “Marian Vow for Homeland”, founded by the youth and former soldiers, began their first pilgrimage called “Marian Vow for Homeland” in 2015. This pilgrimage shall pass through the most of the Marian shrines from the east to the south of Croatia, and they will also walk for a part of their journey in Bosnia and Herzegovina, through Medjugorje.

Fr. Marinko Sakota was the main celebrant of the solemn Holy Mass celebrated on the Solemnity of Corpus Christi, along with 65 priests concelebrating. Fr. Zvonimir Pavićić led the prayer of the Rosary and as traditionally, the Procession with the Blessed Sacrament in the streets of Medjugorje followed, with many priests, religious and pilgrims participating. On Sunday, May 27, 57 children received the first Holy Communion. Fr. Marinko Sakota was the main celebrant at the solemn Holy Mass at 10 am, and the children’s choir “Doves of Peace”, conducted by Sr. Irena Azinovic, made this celebration more solemn. The entire church was filled with the little children, their parents and many pilgrims. (photos)

On Thursday, May 31, we celebrate the Solemnity of Corpus Christi. This is one of the solemnities in our Church and Holy Masses in Croatian language shall be at 7, 11 and 6 pm. After the evening Holy Mass, the Procession with the Blessed Sacrament will take place. It will start at the church, all the way to the bridge, then to the school and returning before the church again. We kindly ask all of the owners of the restaurants, coffee bars and shops to close their shops and adore the Blessed Sacrament on that evening.

Summer schedule of the prayer programme begins on June 1st and will be in force until September 1, 2018. Rosary will be at 6 p.m. and Holy Mass at 7 p.m. while after Holy Mass the regular prayer programme will follow, depending on the day in the week. Adorations on Tuesdays and Saturdays will start at 10 p.m., and on Thursdays at 8 pm, after the evening Holy Mass.

On Saturday, May 26, 2018, 32 young boys and girls received the sacrament of the Holy Confirmation at the Holy Mass held at 10 am in the church of St. James. The sacrament was ministered to them by Mons. dr. Ratko Peric, bishop of Mostar Duvno Diocese. The choir conducted by Sr. Irena Azinovic made this celebration more solemn and beautiful. (photos)
